The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosova (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, accompanied by the non-executive Board member, Ms. Latifi Jashari, held a meeting with Ms. Nathalie Francken, Executive Director at the World Bank Group (WBG), within the framework of the 2026 Spring Meetings in Washington DC.

During the joint meeting with Minister Murati, held in the WBG format, developments in the financial sector were discussed, with particular emphasis on advancing financial inclusion and increasing access to finance for citizens and businesses through projects aimed at modernizing the payment system. Governor Ismaili presented the activities undertaken by the CBK in this regard, including initiatives for financial education, the digitalization of services, and increasing transparency in the financial market.

The ongoing cooperation within financial sector projects was also highly appreciated, including the project for Kosovo’s integration into SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) and the development of the TIPS Clone instant payment system. The signing of international agreements with the World Bank in the field of the financial sector was also welcomed.

Governor Ismaili thanked Ms. Francken for the professional support that World Bank experts have provided to the CBK in advancing strategic reforms and strengthening institutional capacities.

The CBK remains committed to deepening cooperation with international partners to advance financial development and strengthen institutional capacities in support of financial stability and sustainable economic development.
