The delegation of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosova (CBK), led by Governor Mr. Ahmet Ismaili along with his associates, held a meeting with the team of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCM) at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Ms. Mary Goodman, Assistant Director and Division Chief of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCM) at the IMF, together with a broader team of experts from various fields engaged in technical assistance projects.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the progress of the recommendations provided by previous IMF missions, including the Financial Sector Stability Review (FSSR), the Safeguards Assessment, as well as the level of implementation of the technical assistance provided so far, which were highly evaluated and demonstrated strong performance. These projects are directly linked to the strategic plan and are mainly related to the core mandate of the CBK.

In particular, discussions addressed the continuation of IMF support in the areas of banking supervision, financial stability, cybersecurity, as well as the advancement of the CBK’s institutional and legal framework. Emphasis was placed on support for the implementation of the Supervisory Review Process (SREP), the Transparency Code for the CBK, further development of models in the field of crisis management, as well as the advancement of IT supervision and cybersecurity risk management in line with international best practices.

The Governor of the CBK expressed high appreciation and gratitude to the IMF, noting that in the last two years alone, the number of joint projects has exceeded ten professional assistance initiatives in the aforementioned areas, with a high level of implementation and highly evaluated by the IMF itself.

As part of the official visit to Washington DC, the CBK delegation will also hold bilateral meetings with leaders of international partner institutions involved in the implementation of legislative reforms and the strengthening of professional capacities in fulfilling the institution’s mandate and objectives.
