The delegation of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), led by the Governor, Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, during his stay in Washington D.C. is continuing to hold meetings with the highest leaders of the world’s financial institutions, where in this case they met with the Director for the Western Balkans, Europe and Central Asia at the World Bank (WB), Mrs. Xiaoqing Yu and Country Manager Mr. Massimiliano Paolucci.

The focus of the meeting was the discussions on the latest developments in the advancement of the payment system as part of the joint projects between the Central Bank and the World Bank.

Further, the meeting mainly focused on topics such as finalizing the regulatory framework and promoting the development of payment system infrastructure to facilitate fast domestic and cross-border payments. Moreover, the specific discussions were about preparations for CBK’s application for membership in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) and the necessary advances towards integration with the European Union Payments System, as the ultimate goal.

Governor Ismaili thanked the WB team for its ongoing support of the CBK, noting that the WB’s support will continue through technical assistance and efforts to build technical and professional capacities.
