The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, welcomed the Head of Mission of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Kosovo, H. E. Eric Dietz, for a meeting.

During the meeting, Governor Ismaili briefed Ambassador Dietz on key developments and reforms in the financial sector, the advancement of the legal and regulatory framework, emphasizing the stability and strong performance of the financial sector. Legal initiatives in the financial sector were highlighted, along with discussions on activities related to financial inclusion and access to finance, including financial literacy.

At the beginning of the meeting, Governor Ismaili informed Mr. Dietz about the organization, functioning, and scope of the CBK as an independent constitutional institution with adequate institutional capacities and excellent cooperation with international financial institutions, central banks, and regulatory and supervisory authorities in the region and the European Union.

The Governor highly valued the cooperation with the Central Bank of Luxembourg, a long-term partner of the CBK, particularly in the management of international reserves and capacity building in line with the highest standards.

Continuing the meeting, the CBK Governor informed Ambassador Dietz about the pre-application process for membership in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) with the European Commission, as well as the project for the advancement and modernization of the payment system—an important initiative in achieving the CBK’s strategic objectives and plan. In this context, opportunities were explored for support from international partners in listing Kosovo on global payment platforms.

Furthermore, Governor Ismaili expressed the CBK’s gratitude to the people and institutions of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for their support in advancing the financial system of the Republic of Kosovo.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to deepen cooperation in advancing internal processes and other initiatives within the financial sector under their institutional scope.
