Governor of the CBK meets with IMF Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Bo Li

As part of participation in the 2026 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB), held in Washington, DC, the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosova (CBK), Ahmet Ismaili, accompanied by Non-executive Board Member Ms. Latifi-Jashari, Deputy Governor Mr. Fusha, and other associates, held a bilateral meeting with the IMF Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Bo Li.

During the meeting, Governor Ismaili presented the latest developments in Kosovo’s economy, including the performance of the financial sector, progress in safeguarding financial stability, and the advancement of structural reforms. He also outlined financial and monetary developments in the country, with particular emphasis on key indicators demonstrating the resilience of the financial system.

In this context, during the joint meeting held with the participation of Minister Murati, in the International Monetary Fund format, Governor Ismaili informed Mr. Li about financial developments in the country, while emphasizing the strengthening of the regulatory framework, ongoing reforms, and financial stability. He also underlined the CBK’s support for regional initiatives, including the IMF’s initiative for the Southeast Europe Technical Assistance Center (SEETAC), aimed at enhancing institutional capacities. Furthermore, he highlighted progress in reforms to strengthen the integrity of the financial system, supported by IMF technical assistance.

Governor Ismaili expressed appreciation for the IMF’s continued support in strengthening the institutional capacities of the CBK and in the successful implementation of recommendations from its missions, including those under Article IV.

For his part, Mr. Li welcomed the progress achieved by the CBK, emphasizing the importance of continuing reforms and close interinstitutional cooperation, with the potential to expand engagement through new programs.

The meeting confirmed the mutual commitment to deepening the institutional partnership between the CBK and the IMF, in support of development objectives.
