The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, held a high-level meeting with Mr. Tobias Adrian, Financial Counsellor and Director of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCM) at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), during his official visit to Washington, D.C., following the IMF and World Bank 2025 Spring Meetings.

During the meeting, Governor Ismaili and Mr. Adrian exchanged views on current global economic developments and engaged in a constructive dialogue on the strong and ongoing cooperation between the CBK and the IMF’s MCM Department. Their discussion underscored the importance of macro-financial resilience, regulatory advancement, and the development of modern financial sector frameworks tailored to Kosovo’s evolving needs.

Governor Ismaili expressed deep appreciation for the technical expertise and continued support provided by Mr. Adrian and his team, which has significantly contributed to strengthening Kosovo’s financial system, enhancing regulatory capacity, and improving institutional governance.

The meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment to continued close engagement in areas such as risk-based supervision, crisis preparedness, cybersecurity, and the implementation of international standards. CBK and MCM also explored future opportunities to further enhance the technical cooperation program in support of long-term financial sector development in Kosovo.

The CBK remains dedicated to working closely with international partners, including the IMF, to build a sound, inclusive, and future-ready financial system that supports economic growth and macroeconomic stability.
