The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, was received by the President of Deutsche Bundesbank, Dr. Joachim Nagel, at the bank’s headquarters in Frankfurt. On this occasion, Governor Ismaili thanked President Nagel for the excellent cooperation and briefed him on key developments in Kosovo’s financial sector, institutional and financial reforms, as well as the country’s progress in the European integration processes.

Governor Ismaili also provided an update on Kosovo’s pre-application process for membership in SEPA, as well as developments related to the fast payment system – the TIPS Clone project in cooperation with the Bank of Italy.


The meeting included a discussion on the reforms undertaken in the financial sector to align Kosovo’s banking regulation with that of the European Union, where Governor Ismaili requested further support from the Deutsche Bundesbank in these important processes.

Both parties discussed the opportunities to further advancing institutional cooperation, particularly in the areas of financial stability, supervision, and other mutually relevant fields.


In closing, Governor Ismaili expressed his appreciation for Deutsche Bundesbank’s continuous support to the CBK in strengthening institutional capacities, managing assets and international reserves, operating the REPO line on behalf of the Eurosystem, and in other key financial operations.


As part of his official visit, Governor Ismaili also visited the Deutsche Bundesbank’s Money Museum, where he was welcomed by the Museum Director, Dr. Ulrich Rosseaux.
