The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK) celebrates its 25th anniversary with a High-Level International Conference: “Bridging borders, building futures: SEPA integration for financial inclusion – empowering growth and resilience”.

This international event that is taking place gathers senior leaders from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank Group, high-ranking officials from domestic and international institutions, governors of central banks from the region and European countries, and executives from other financial institutions.

The host of the conference, Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, Governor of the CBK, welcomed the participants with an opening address.

President of the Republic of Kosovo, H.E. Dr. Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, also addressed the attendees with an opening speech.

Additionally, this International Conference, organized in celebration of CBK’s 25th anniversary, received a congratulatory video message from Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the IMF.

Meanwhile, the keynote address was delivered by Mr. Robert Holzmann, Governor of the Austrian National Bank.

During this Conference, three academic sessions are scheduled to take place, with participation from the Governor and Deputy Governor of the CBK, governors from the region and EU states, and senior representatives of international financial institutions:

  • SEPA integration, digital transformation, and implications for financial services;
  • Enhancing financial stability in a changing landscape; and
  • Financial intermediation within the regional banking sector.

Additionally, the study titled “Cashless payments and transactions: How do citizens in the Western Balkans operate?” will be presented by Ms. Julia E. Wörtz.

The conference’s topic will also be elaborated by international experts who have assisted the CBK with the relevant reforms.

The proceedings of this conference will conclude with remarks from Mr. Bashkim Nurboja, Chairman of the Board of the CBK.
