The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosova (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, accompanied by CBK Non-executive Board Member Ms. Latifi Jashari, Deputy Governor Mr. Fusha, and other associates, held a bilateral meeting with the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Mr. Yigit Yaşar, during the 2026 Spring Meetings in Washington DC.

During the meeting, Governor Ismaili informed Mr. Yaşar about the latest developments in Kosovo’s financial sector. He emphasized the stability of the financial system, the advancement of payment infrastructure, progress in the digitalization of the financial sector, and reforms in the field of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing. Efforts to increase financial inclusion and strengthen institutional governance were also discussed. Special attention was given to addressing emerging risks, including cybersecurity risks.

On this occasion, Governor Ismaili expressed his gratitude to Mr. Yaşar for the IMF’s continued support to Kosovo.

The CBK delegation highly appreciated the cooperation with the IMF at all levels and discussed in detail ongoing projects and technical assistance, the progress of which was also considered positive by representatives of the constituencies to which Kosovo belongs.

The CBK reaffirms its commitment to deepening cooperation with international partners, with the aim of further financial development and strengthening institutional capacities, in order to maintain financial stability and promote sustainable economic development.
