The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, accompanied by his associates, held a meeting with the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, Ms. Antonella Bassani, during the 2025 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington, D.C.

During the meeting, Governor Ismaili informed Ms. Bassani about the reforms undertaken within the CBK Strategic Plan, key developments in Kosovo’s financial sector, the country’s overall economic performance, as well as ongoing projects implemented with the support of the World Bank Group.

Particular emphasis was placed on projects in the financial sector supported by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation, including the new financial sector project, which, among other things, supports the CBK and the Deposit Insurance Fund, directly contributing to financial stability and digital payment infrastructure.

The meeting also highlighted the cooperation between the Central Bank of Kosovo and the World Bank, with special attention to significant efficiency improvements that have produced concrete results in the negotiation and approval processes of joint projects.

On her part, the World Bank Vice President thanked Governor Ismaili for the close cooperation and emphasized the importance of ratifying the agreements reached, which have long been approved by the World Bank Board.

Finally, CBK representatives expressed their gratitude to the World Bank Group for its continued support and strategic partnership.
