The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Dardan Fusha, hosted the First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Albania, Ms. Luljeta Minxhozi.

In this meeting, the two Deputy Governors discussed the developments of the financial sector in both countries, with a focus on the advancement of the infrastructure of settlement of payments and securities, as well as the activities of the two institutions in order to achieve their objectives for the construction of systems for the instant payments processing and settlement in the country.


Within the framework of the cooperation between the two respective central banks, Deputy Governors Fusha and Minxhozi discussed the preparations and the joint work they are doing, as well as the possibility of exchanging experiences in terms of preparing the legal and technical infrastructure framework for the project for the integration of the Western Balkans in the SEPA payment scheme and the European Union TARGET Instant Payment Settlement (TIPS).

Also, part of the discussion were the challenges and opportunities of support for the membership of the Republic of Kosovo in international payment platforms, where the experience of the Bank of Albania and the continuous support is to be appreciated.

Ms. Minxhozi expressed her willingness to support the CBK in realizing the objectives and plans of the highest financial institution in the country, as well as regarding concrete initiatives, which help facilitate the free movement of goods, services and capital between our two countries.

In the end, Mr. Fusha expressed the CBK’s gratitude for the continuous support of the Bank of Albania at all levels of cooperation, in the journey towards sustainable and long-term developments.
