The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosova (CBK) announces a competition for students of grades X-XII of Kosovo’s high schools to write papers (Essay) on their concept of savings: what are savings, how to create the habit of saving money, why savings are important for our future, how to manage our personal finances properly, how to use money smartly, etc.

The purpose of this competition is to influence on the encouragement and motivation of students to develop an understanding of the importance of savings and proper management of personal finances.

The selection committee will evaluate the essays and select 10 best papers, which will be awarded with a monetary prize.

Rules of acceptance:

1. The essay must be individual.

2. The essay must be a creative work and must clearly convey the message of the topic.

3. The essay may be written in Albanian, Serbian and English languages.

4. The essay must contain a minimum of 600 words; the writing font should be Times New Roman 12, double spaced.

5. The essay must be genuine work and not be copied.

6. The monetary award will be: First Prize 200 €, Second Prize 150 €, while Prizes 3-10 will be awarded the amount of 100 €.

7. Without prejudice to item 6, the final decision on the number of awards shall depend on the quality of the papers presented, and will be taken in the end by the selection committee. Therefore, it is not mandatory that the number of awards be ten.

8. The students interested in applying may do so by submitting their essays in electronic version (PDF) at: edukimi@bqk-kos.org. Essays may also be sent in hard copy at the following addresses:

9. Do not forget to write your first name, surname and the name of your school, classroom, your phone number and phone number of your parent, as well as e-mail address!

The winning essays will be transferred into the ownership of CBK and will be used as educational material.

Upon completing the procedures for the selection of best papers (essays), only the winning students will be contacted.

The CBK will organise a special event to announce the best submitted papers.

The final date for submitting the papers will be: 30 November 2023.
