The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, according to the publication calendar, presents the Balance of Payments statistics for December 2024.

Balance of payments – until the end of December 2024 was characterized by a current account deficit of 920.77 million euros, which shows an increase of 26.24% compared to the same period last year.

Trade balance – in goods as of December 2024 recorded a deficit of 4,926.82 million euros, which is 7.15% higher compared to the same period of the previous year. Exports for this period recorded a value of 956.21 million euros, which represents an increase of 9.82%, while imports of goods recorded an increase of 7.57%, reaching a value of 5,883.03 million euros.

Services account – which has a continuous positive balance, by the end of December 2024 reached a positive balance of 1,792.03 million euros , which is 9.99% higher compared to the same period last year.

Primary income – as of December 2024, recorded a positive balance of 215.36 million euros, which in the same period last year were worth 198.89 million euros, showing an increase of 8.28%.

Secondary income – remains the main contributor to the current account deficit reduction. By December 2024, this account recorded a positive balance of 1,998.66 million euros, which represents a decrease of 2.06%. compared to the same period last year.

Remittances – are the main category within secondary income, the value of which by December 2024 marked 1,355.01 million euros, representing an increase of 19.25 million euros or 1.44% compared to the same period in 2023.

Assets in the financial account – by the end of December 2024 – have recorded a positive balance of 605.57 million euros. Meanwhile, financial liabilities have recorded a positive balance of 1,254.72 million euros.

Direct investments in Kosovo – by the end of December 2024 were 856.06 million euros, which represents an increase of 1.90% compared to the same period last year, while direct investments outside Kosovo amounted to 224.87 million euros.
