The IMF Technical Assistance Mission for strengthening the Supervisory and Macroprudential Framework of the CBK successfully concludes

The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK) has successfully concluded the Technical Assistance Mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which aimed to advance the supervisory and macroprudential framework of the CBK in line with the best international practices. This Mission stayed in Kosovo from September 8-19, 2025, during which it held meetings with several departments within the CBK’s mandate and was received by Deputy Governor Mr. Milot Cakaj along with the CBK team.

At the closing meeting, the Mission Chief, Mr. Sebastien Clanet from the Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCM), presented to the Governor of the CBK, Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, the main findings and recommendations of the Mission. These focused on advancing the CBK’s risk-based Supervisory Framework, improving the Reporting and Supervisory methodology Framework, and further developing the macroprudential framework to address systemic risks.

The Mission noted the successful implementation by the CBK of recommendations arising from the IMF’s Financial Sector Stability Review (FSSR), which have significantly contributed to strengthening the resilience of Kosovo’s financial sector. Based on this Mission, additional technical assistance will be considered in the identified areas to further advance reforms, based on the evaluations of professional teams and the CBK’s Strategic Plan.

Governor Ismaili thanked Mr. Clanet and his team and expressed gratitude to the IMF for its ongoing support, emphasizing the importance of technical assistance in capacity building and the implementation of the CBK’s strategic projects.

In conclusion, the CBK and IMF reaffirmed their commitment to close cooperation and their joint engagement to ensure the successful implementation of the identified recommendations and reforms.
