During today’s day, at the offices of the Board of Governors of the US Federal Reserve, Governor Mehmeti was received in an official meeting by Governor Lisa DeNell Cook.

Governor Mehmeti first informed Governor Cook about the role of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo in the licensing, regulating and supervising financial institutions in Kosovo. Also, Governor Cook was informed about the continuous support of the USA, since the establishment of CBK until today through American institutions such as: the American Treasury, USAID and the Federal Reserve.

Governor Mehmeti expressed his thanks and gratitude for the great contribution that the American state has given to the development of capacities of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo and for the continuous support for the development of the financial sector in Kosovo.

Governor Mehmeti informed Governor Cook about the good performance of the financial system in Kosovo, with special emphasis on the banking one, and emphasized the importance of this sector in supporting the country’s economic development.

Likewise, Governor Mehmeti revealed the views of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo regarding macroeconomic developments in the country, as well as the forecasts of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo for the country’s economy in the coming years.

In the meeting was discussed as well cooperation with the Federal Reserve so far, as well as the possibility of further expansion and advancement of cooperation between the two institutions. Also, Governor Mehmeti invited Governor Cook to visit Kosovo and the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, an invitation which was welcomed by Governor Cook.

At the same time, this is the first visit of a Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo to the offices of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve of the USA.
