The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo,  Mr.Fehmi Mehmeti, met with representatives of the World Bank, who are paying a visit to Kosovo.

Governor Mehmeti informed the officials of this institution about the situation in the financial system and thanked the representatives of this institution for the continuous support they have given and are giving to the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo.

On this occasion, Governor Mehmeti stated that the financial system in the Republic of Kosovo has had positive developments, where the assets of the financial system, until October 2021 have marked an annual increase of 11.8%, while bank lending has marked an annual increase of about 13.4% , interest rates on loans decreased to 6.0%, while the non-performing loans rate decreased to 2.4%.

Governor Mehmeti briefed World Bank representatives on the positive developments in other sectors, such as the insurance, pension and non-bank microfinance and financial institutions.

Governor Mehmeti also thanked the World Bank representatives for the technical assistance provided so far and expressed the CBK’s readiness to cooperate with the World Bank team to successfully finalize future projects.

The representatives of the World Bank headed by Ms. Elene Imnadze, Deputy Director of the World Bank Office for Kosovo, accompanied by representatives of FINSAC in Vienna, thanked the Governor of the CBK, Mr. Fehmi Mehmeti for the continuous cooperation, and discussed ways to grow further cooperation between the World Bank and the CBK.
