The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, accompanied by the CBK delegation, held a meeting with Ms. Ines Rocha, Regional Director for Europe at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. 

During the meeting, Governor Ismaili briefed Ms. Rocha and the newly appointed Regional Director, Mr. Marcello Castellanos, along with their teams, on recent developments in Kosovo’s financial sector and the key reforms undertaken by the CBK. These include the modernization of the payment system, the digitalization of financial services, advancement of the legal framework, increased financial inclusion, and promotion of financial education – all in line with the CBK’s Strategic Plan.

A special focus of the discussion was the growing importance of addressing climate and environmental risks, including the advancement of the legislative framework and strengthening institutional capacities to effectively manage these risks within the financial sector.

The parties also discussed ongoing projects related to the payment system and the strengthening of the legal framework for non-bank financial institutions, supported by the IFC. Governor Ismaili expressed his gratitude for this support, underlining its importance for the continued development of Kosovo’s financial sector.

In closing, both sides reiterated their commitment to advancing existing projects and expanding cooperation in areas of shared interest, with the goal of enhancing access to finance and delivering inclusive and sustainable financial services to all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
