The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, along with Deputy Governor Ms. Nesrin Shileku-Shala, held a meeting with the non-resident Ambassador of Ireland to the Republic of Kosovo, H. E. Mr. Ragnar Almqvist.

During the discussion, Governor Ismaili briefed Ambassador Almqvist on key developments and reforms in the financial sector, the advancement of the legal and regulatory framework, and highlighted the stability and strong performance of the financial system. The meeting also focused on legal initiatives in the financial sector, as well as activities related to financial inclusion, access to finance, and financial literacy.

At the start of the meeting, Governor Ismaili informed the Irish Ambassador, who is based in Hungary and covers the Republic of Kosovo and Montenegro, about the organization, functioning, and mandate of the CBK as an independent constitutional institution, its institutional capacities, and the excellent cooperation with international financial institutions, central banks, and supervisory and regulatory authorities in the region and the European Union.

He then updated Ambassador Almqvist on Kosovo’s key achievements in recent years and the progress made in financial integration through SEPA and the TIPS Clone project, bringing the country closer to European financial infrastructure.

Governor Ismaili expressed the CBK’s appreciation to the institutions of the Republic of Ireland for their continued support in strengthening the integrity of the financial system of the Republic of Kosovo.

In conclusion, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in support of advancing the CBK’s legal framework in line with EU standards, as well as Kosovo’s integration into relevant European mechanisms.
