The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, accompanied by his associates, welcomed the mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Mr. David Amaglobeli, Mission Chief for Kosovo, along with his team, for the final review of the Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) and the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).

Presenting the latest developments in the financial sector, Governor Ismaili expressed his appreciation for the IMF’s contribution and professional and technical assistance in terms of the legal framework and in strengthening the capacities of the CBK. He emphasized the importance of continuous institutional cooperation, considering the challenges the local and global economy faces.

On the other hand, the Mission Chief, Mr. Amaglobeli, commended the constructive cooperation between the CBK and the IMF and the progress made by the CBK in strengthening institutional frameworks and capacities. He highlighted the importance of implementing the recommendations stemming from the SBA and RSF agreements and underscored the stability and resilience of the country’s financial sector. Furthermore, he acknowledged the CBK’s commitment to institutional and regulatory reforms to converge and align with European Union standards to maintain and enhance financial stability.

During the meeting, discussions focused on implementing recommendations from the SBA and RSF agreements, which the CBK has successfully met within the agreed deadlines. Additionally, potential new arrangements with the IMF were discussed, with an emphasis on strengthening and reforming the financial system, subject to appropriate consultations and based on institutional needs.

The mission will remain in Kosovo from March 12 to March 21, during which time the IMF team from Washington D.C. will engage in thematic discussions with the executive and staff of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo and hold meetings with other institutions of the Republic of Kosovo.
