The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, held an official meeting with the Commissioner for Information and Privacy, Ms. Krenare Sogojeva-Dërmaku, from the Agency for Information and Privacy.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and coordinate the advancement of a joint agenda in the field of personal data protection, public education on secure access, and standards for the processing of personal data and financial transactions.


Both institutions expressed their commitment to deepening inter-institutional cooperation between independent institutions in areas of mutual public interest, including security practices and ensuring the highest privacy standards in the financial sector. Joint initiatives will be undertaken to ensure compliance with legislation, as well as to educate the public on the use of digital platforms and proper care when conducting financial services.
 
The meeting emphasized the importance of strengthening the institutional role in the protection and management of personal data in accordance with relevant legislation and the highest standards.
 
Furthermore, the parties agreed on close cooperation in advancing capacity building to effectively implement these standards, as well as ensuring proper coordination in a strategic approach to achieving the desired outcomes.
 
The CBK remains committed to coordinating and supporting all initiatives that strengthen the security and integrity of data within the country’s financial system, and is determined to take all necessary steps to ensure the continuous implementation of its mandate.
