The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosova (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, together with his associates, hosted a meeting with senior experts engaged by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Mr. David Lukas Rozumek. The discussion focused on key developments in banking supervision and the further advancement of the regulatory framework.

During the meeting, the main issues related to the implementation of the Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process (SREP) were discussed, as well as the continued alignment of the CBK’s supervisory approach to international and European standards and best practices.

Governor Ismaili emphasized the CBK’s commitment to building a strong, transparent supervisory system in line with the requirements of a modern and integrated financial market. He also provided an update on the progress in implementing this agreed reform, in accordance with the approved roadmap for its phased implementation, based on the practices of European Union countries.

Furthermore, Governor Ismaili stated that the institution he leads will continue to implement reform activities in line with its objectives and Strategic Plan, while expressing gratitude to the IMF for its continuous support in this project.

On the other hand, IMF experts commended the progress achieved by the CBK in developing its supervisory framework, including advancements in implementing previous recommendations, and highlighted the importance of maintaining this progress to further strengthen the financial system.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue their technical cooperation, focusing on the further advancement of the SREP framework through the exchange of practical experiences and ongoing support from the IMF.

The CBK approved the roadmap for the implementation of this strategic reform at the end of February 2025, with IMF support, and has since hosted ongoing visits from experts of this Mission.
