The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, is conducting an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the invitation of the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade and President of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) International Investment Congress, Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi. He is participating in the 14th edition of AIM 2025, taking place from April 7 to 9 in Abu Dhabi.

In addition to attending the opening ceremony and holding bilateral meetings, Governor Ismaili took part in the Roundtable of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, chaired by Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, the United Nations Special Envoy for Financing the 2030 Agenda. This roundtable served as a key platform for exchanging views on economic challenges and opportunities in a multipolar world, as well as the impact of geopolitical developments on global financial stability.

In his remarks, Governor Ismaili presented the latest macroeconomic and financial developments in Kosovo. He emphasized the Central Bank’s priorities in strengthening the resilience of the financial sector, addressing risks arising from digital transformation and emerging technologies, and aligning the legal framework with European Union standards. He also highlighted initiatives for integrating into modern payment systems and underlined the excellent cooperation with European and international financial institutions.

During the visit, Governor Ismaili, accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to the UAE, Dr. Xhabir Hamiti, held an official meeting with senior officials of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates, specifically with Deputy Governors responsible for Banking and Insurance Supervision and for Banking Operations and Support Services. The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for inter-institutional cooperation in areas of mutual interest, such as financial supervision, consumer protection, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing, payment system modernization, promotion of financial inclusion and alternative banking, and professional capacity development.

This meeting represents an important step toward building and expanding strategic partnerships between central banks, aimed at enhancing financial stability, increasing institutional capacities, and fostering innovation in the banking sector.

While in Abu Dhabi, the Governor Ismaili also held meetings with representatives from the UAE Ministry of Economy and with delegations from various countries participating in AIM 2025.

As part of his visit, Governor Ismaili attended a ceremony organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo on the occasion of the 17th Anniversary of Kosovo’s Independence. On this occasion, he met with ambassadors, distinguished international figures, and members of the Kosovar diaspora living and working in the United Arab Emirates.

Governor Ismaili expressed his gratitude to the UAE authorities for their invitation and warm hospitality, and extended his thanks to the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo for their support throughout the official visit and participation in this important international event.
