The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Ahmet Ismaili, hosted the heads of the Kosovo Credit Guarantee Fund (KCGF) headed by the chairperson of the Board of Directors, Mr. Agan Azemi, the Managing Director, Mr. Besnik Berisha and the Board Member as a representative of the German Development Bank (KfW), Mr. Melih Çadirci.

In this meeting, the Governor informed them about the expected changes in the legislation as well as the need for its harmonization and the strategic plans of the two institutions to further advance the banking system.

Expanding access to finance, increasing competition, reducing the financing gap with competitive conditions, and advancing data in the Kosovo Credit Register were part of the discussion.

In this sense, during the revision of the KCGF legislation, it was agreed to deal with the possibility of expanding the membership of the KCGF and the inclusion of microfinance (lending) institutions as members, the revision of the deadline for becoming part of the KCGF for the new banking institutions as well as the possibility for special guarantee schemes of the KCGF for banks to be able to finance microfinance institutions.

CBK considers KCGF as a very important mechanism to maintain and further advance the objective of a stable financial system, with an impact on supporting the economy. Therefore, cooperation will also be strengthened in the interest of implementing these objectives.
