Financial statistics for other (non-bank) financial institutions and remittances for February 2024

The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, according to the calendar of publications, has presented the statistics for other financial institutions for February 2024, of remittances for January 2024 and the preliminary ones for February 2024.

Other financial intermediaries

The assets of other financial intermediaries at the end of February 2024 reached the value of EUR 555.2 million, marking an increase of EUR 15.1 million.

The structure of the microfinance sector assets is dominated by loans, which make up 66.8% of the total assets. Gross loans of other financial intermediaries in February 2024 reached the value of EUR 370.6 million, representing an increase of EUR 6.8 million compared to the previous period. According to sectors, loans to households dominate with 60.6% of the total loans of the microfinance sector.

The value of new loans issued by other financial intermediaries in February 2024 amounted to EUR 41.4 million.

Insurance companies

The assets of insurance companies at the end of February 2024 reached the value of EUR 312.7 million, representing an increase of EUR 0.6 million compared to the previous month.

The structure of assets in the insurance sector consists of the balance with commercial banks, which make up 44.8%, securities and other assets 29.0% and reinsurance with a share of 14.6%.

Pension funds

The assets of pension funds at the end of February 2024 have reached the value of EUR 2.8 billion, representing an increase of EUR 46.5 million.

The structure of pension sector assets is dominated by equity securities, which make up 77.8% of total assets.

Remitancat

Remittances in January 2024 reached the value of EUR 86.4 million. Whereas, according to the preliminary estimates, remittances for February 2024 amounted to around EUR 87.9 million, thus reaching the value of EUR 174.3 million (preliminary). The largest flows even during the month of February were through NBFIs 64.4%, banks 15.9%, while through other channels 19.7%.
