The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK) held its next workshop with representatives of the financial sector as part of the “WE Finance Code” initiative, which aims to improve access to finance for women entrepreneurs and advance financial inclusion in the country through targeted initiatives and concrete financial products. During the workshop, officials from financial institutions discussed the project’s progress and key requirements, including gender-disaggregated data collection and reporting, strengthening transparency, and implementing good governance standards.

This workshop follows the ongoing commitments of the CBK and the financial sector, which were also highlighted at the regional level during the “WE Finance Code” forum held in October in Herceg Novi, Montenegro. The forum, organized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in cooperation with the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, brought together around 20 representatives from Kosovo along with financial institutions from across the Western Balkans. The event served as a platform for sharing experiences and promoting practices that support women’s access to finance and the development of WMSMEs in the region.

The experiences and recommendations shared during the regional forum directly contributed to shaping the discussions and focus areas of today’s workshop, ensuring that the initiative continues to advance in line with international best practices and regional commitments.

The CBK reaffirms its commitment to implementing initiatives that create a more inclusive environment that supports access to finance and sustainable development.
