We Finance Code Pilot Phase

WE Finance Code – Women Entrepreneurs Finance Code
The WE Finance Code is an initiative led by the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), in collaboration with financial sector institutions and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The initiative aims to improve access to finance for women entrepreneurs and strengthen financial inclusion.

To date, 28 organisations have signed the WE Finance Code, including five public sector institutions, two financial sector associations, and 21 financial service providers. These include all commercial banks, major microfinance institutions, non-bank financial institutions and fintech companies, representing approximately 95% of Kosovo’s financial sector.

Based on international standards set out in the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Code, the initiative seeks to address the barriers women entrepreneurs face in accessing finance by promoting the collection and analysis of sex-disaggregated data, the development of tailored financial products and services, and the monitoring of progress in financing women-led businesses.

As part of the initiative, the CBK has developed the WE Finance Code Dashboard, presenting aggregated data and key performance indicators on financing for women entrepreneurs in Kosovo. This tool enables progress to be monitored, trends to be analysed, and evidence-based decisions to be made by participating financial institutions, policymakers, and the general public.

Please note that the data presented on the Dashboard have been sourced from the Credit Registry System, the financial sector and the Kosovo Business Registration Agency (KBRA). The dashboard is currently in a pilot phase and contains preliminary data. It will be continuously enhanced to improve data quality, coverage and accuracy.
