The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosova (CBK) organized an event with reporting companies to present and officially launch the new Data Collection and Statistics Exchange System (DCSES), which will serve as a platform for electronic reporting of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) statistics.

Opening the event, CBK Deputy Governor Mr. Dardan Fusha expressed his appreciation to the reporting companies for their continued cooperation and valuable contribution to the CBK statistical reporting process, emphasizing that the quality of official statistics depends directly on the quality and accuracy of the data reported.

He highlighted that macroeconomic statistics, and in particular external sector statistics, including the Balance of Payments, the International Investment Position, and Foreign Direct Investment statistics, are essential for analysing economic developments, assessing financial stability, and supporting evidence-based policymaking.

Deputy Governor Fusha underlined that Foreign Direct Investment represents one of the most important indicators of investor confidence in Kosovo’s economy and that the quality of these statistics directly influences how the country’s economic performance is presented to international investors, financial institutions, and development partners.

During the event, it was emphasized that the development of statistics at the CBK is guided by three key pillars: expanding statistical coverage and improving data quality, harmonizing methodologies with European and international standards, and modernizing processes through digitalization and automation, including this platform as one of the sources for data collection.

The new DCSES platform represents an important step towards the modernization of the electronic data collection and statistical reporting process at CBK. It has been developed in accordance with the latest international statistical standards and reporting requirements, including those introduced under the BPM7 Manual, thereby further aligning Kosovo’s statistical system with the practices of advanced economies and international institutions.

For reporting companies, the new platform will simplify and streamline the reporting process, reduce administrative burden, improve data accuracy, and enhance communication between reporting entities and the CBK. Through automated processes and integrated validation controls, the platform is expected to reduce the need for subsequent corrections and manual procedures, saving both time and resources for reporting companies and the CBK alike.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Fusha reaffirmed the CBK’s commitment to developing a modern, transparent, and internationally harmonized statistical system. He thanked the reporting companies for their continued cooperation and acknowledged the dedication of the CBK teams involved in the project, particularly the Statistics Department and the Information Technology Department, whose efforts were instrumental in the successful implementation of the DCSES platform.
