The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosova (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, welcomed in a meeting the Member of the Board of Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as well as Director of the Constituency where Kosovo is part, Mr. Brendan O’Connor, accompanied by Alternate Member of the Board of Directors of the EBRD as well as the Alternate Member of the Constituency where Kosovo is part, Mr. Anders Garly Andersen.

Governor Ismaili briefed Mr. O’Connor on developments in the financial sector in the Republic of Kosovo, with a particular focus on the stability and resilience of the banking system, the advancement of the regulatory framework, and the continuous improvement of financial supervision. Governor Ismaili emphasized that the country’s financial sector continues to be characterized by high liquidity, strong capitalization, and stable performance.

During the meeting, Governor Ismaili also addressed macro-financial developments, including economic trends, inflation, and global challenges affecting the country’s economy. The importance of policy coordination and strengthening mechanisms to safeguard financial stability in an increasingly complex environment was highlighted.

A significant part of the discussion was dedicated to cooperation between the CBK and the EBRD, where the existing partnership was highly appreciated and readiness was expressed to further deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly in supporting the development of financial markets and enhancing access to finance.

The meeting also covered current and future EBRD projects in Kosovo, focusing on the financial sector, digitalization, and support for the private sector. The importance of these projects for the country’s economic development and sustainable growth was underlined.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Governor Ismaili expressed his gratitude for the EBRD’s continued support to Kosovo, appreciating its significant contribution to the development of the financial sector and the economy as a whole. He reaffirmed the CBK’s commitment to continuing close cooperation with the EBRD in the future.
