The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosova (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, alongside with his associates, held a meeting with Charge d’Affairs ad interim of the Embassy of Japan in Kosovo, Mr. Hiroyasu Tanigaki.

During the discussion, Governor Ismaili briefed Mr. Tanigaki on key developments and reforms in the financial sector, the advancement of the legal and regulatory framework, and highlighted the stability and strong performance of the financial system. He also highlighted legislative initiatives in the financial sector, as well as activities related to financial inclusion, access to finance, and financial literacy.

At the start of the meeting, Governor Ismaili informed Charge d’Affairs ad interim of the Embassy of Japan in Kosovo about the organization, functioning, and mandate of the CBK as an independent constitutional institution, its institutional capacities, and the excellent cooperation with international financial institutions, central banks, and supervisory and regulatory authorities in the region and the European countries. Furthermore, he informed him about the favorable investment climate in the financial sector, as well as other attractive sectors in the country.

He then updated Mr. Tanigaki on Kosovo’s key achievements in recent years, and the progress made in financial integration through SEPA and the TIPS Clone project, which, in addition to their direct contribution to the country’s economy, brings the country closer to the European financial infrastructure.

Governor Ismaili expressed the CBK’s appreciation to Japan’s institutions, which continue to support our institutions, particularly in strengthening the Republic of Kosovo’s financial system and advancing its European financial integration.

In conclusion, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in support of advancing the framework toward the highest standards, as well as Kosovo’s integration process into relevant international mechanisms.
