The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, together with his delegation, as part of his participation in the 2025 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB), was warmly welcomed at the Technical Assistance Office of the U.S. Department of the Treasury by Acting Director Ms. Audrey Linthorst, other senior officials, and her team.

The meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo and the U.S. Department of the Treasury, both in the ongoing project and in the potential expansion into previously discussed areas.

In his remarks, Governor Ismaili expressed his deep appreciation for the continued support of the U.S. Treasury to the CBK, highlighting the restart of activities supporting technical assistance. Furthermore, he highly valued the important role of the U.S. Department of the Treasury in building a strong and resilient central bank for Kosovo, emphasizing their ongoing efforts to strengthen the CBK’s key functions and capacities.

CBK delegation briefed the Treasury team on major developments in the financial sector, the advancement of the legal framework in anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing, measures taken to combat counterfeit currency and safeguard the integrity of the financial system, as well as capacity-building for risk-based supervision.

Additionally, Governor Ismaili reiterated the CBK’s commitment to advancing close partnership with the U.S. Treasury in areas of mutual strategic interest.

On their part, the OTA leadership confirmed their readiness to continue existing projects and expand cooperation under the new technical assistance program.
