Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, together with his associates, held a meeting with a delegation from the Swiss National Bank (SNB), led by Chairman of the Governing Board Mr. Martin Schlegel, during the 2025 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB), taking place in Washington D.C.

During this meeting, Governor Ismaili briefed the Swiss Governor, Mr. Schlegel, on recent developments in the financial sector and other reforms undertaken toward harmonization with the European Union’s legal framework. In particular, he highlighted the progress and measures taken by the CBK regarding membership in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), the modernization of the fast payments system, as well as other priorities outlined in the strategic plan.

Discussions focused on the potential for initiating cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including international reserve management, exchange of experiences in financial stability, and other aspects that enhance institutional relations, taking into account good bilateral relations and the Kosovar diaspora in Switzerland.

On his part, Governor Schlegel expressed the willingness to explore the possibilities for cooperation while he highly appreciated the initiative to meet and discuss these opportunities.

Governor Ismaili expressed his appreciation for the Swiss National Bank, noting that this was the first meeting aimed at establishing institutional relations.

As part of their stay in the U.S., the CBK delegation will also hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from partner central banks.
