The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, participated in the event organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo (AmCham), which was attended by representatives of the business community – AmCham members, financial institutions, as well as representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo, as part of advancing institutional dialogue with professional organizations, associations, and stakeholders in areas of shared public interest.

The stability of the financial sector, key macroeconomic developments, the CBK’s activities in implementing strategic reforms, and the progress in strengthening the regulatory and supervisory framework, were among the topics discussed between Governor Ismaili and AmCham members. He also provided insights into developments in the banking sector, confirming the overall soundness of banks, including capitalization levels, liquidity, and the stability of the financial system as a whole.

Additionally, Governor Ismaili presented the actions taken by the CBK to advance the payment system, including the anticipated benefits for businesses from Kosovo’s membership in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), as well as developments related to the project for establishing the instant payments system TIPS Clone, as an important infrastructure for the entire economy. These initiatives were welcomed and supported by AmCham members, who agreed on the importance of inter-institutional communication and the need for progress in this regard, with particular emphasis on SEPA membership.

Thanking the Executive Director of the AmCham, Mr. Arian Zeka, for the invitation, Governor Ismaili highlighted the importance of such a discussion platform with private sector representatives, aimed at gaining a clear understanding of the challenges while reiterating their role as key contributors to the country’s economy and financial sector. Furthermore, he engaged in discussions with participants on various topics, including the regulatory framework of the financial sector and access to finance. The needs of businesses were highlighted, such as advancing regulations for alternative financing channels through the capital market, supporting innovations, as well as ongoing initiatives that promote the country’s internationalization and financial integration with European and U.S. markets.

For his part, Director Zeka thanked Governor Ismaili for his willingness to engage with representatives of the private sector and expressed AmCham’s commitment to contributing to a constructive dialogue with the CBK. He highly appreciated the CBK’s engagement and achievements across several pillars, emphasizing the Bank’s dedication to transparency and open communication between institutions.
