The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, accompanied by Deputy Governor Mrs. Nesrin Shileku-Shala and colleagues, during his official visit to Washington D.C., held a meeting with the Director of the European Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Mr. Alfred Kammer.

During the meeting, Governor Ismaili informed Mr. Kammer about the latest developments in Kosovo’s financial sector, including progress in advancing the legal and regulatory framework aimed at strengthening the resilience and integrity of the financial system. He also presented macroeconomic developments and progress in the implementation of structural reforms, in line with the CBK’s Strategic Plan.

Mr. Kammer commended the progress achieved by the CBK in maintaining financial stability and emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation between the IMF and Kosovo, particularly in areas that support economic development and enhance the functioning of the financial system.

Governor Ismaili highlighted the successful completion of two key cooperation instruments with the IMF – the Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) and the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF) – which have significantly contributed to the implementation of fiscal and structural reforms, as well as to the preservation of the country’s economic stability.

The discussion also covered the concrete measures taken by the CBK to strengthen the capitalization and resilience of the banking sector, in the context of evolving global economic and geopolitical developments.

Governor Ismaili expressed his gratitude for the IMF’s continued support through technical assistance and various programs, which have helped strengthen the institutional capacities of the CBK. In conclusion, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation in pursuit of shared objectives for sustainable economic development and the preservation of financial stability in Kosovo.
