The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosova (CBK) in the framework of its commitments to support the facilitation of access to finance through digitalization of financial services, pursuant to Strategic Plan and in cooperation with the Information Society Agency (ASHI), has introduced two of its services on the eKosova state platform: the Accounts Registry (BAR) and the Kosovo Credit Registry (CRK). This has been made possible through the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two institutions and the necessary technical developments, effective from 3rd February 2025.

With these developments, through the eKosova state platform, citizens will be able to verify their accounts at financial institutions that report to the Accounts Register, including the status of the account, free of charge, and can use it for personal needs in the implementation of other administrative requirements. They will also be able to obtain an individual Credit Report directly from the eKosova state platform, without having to physically request it from the CBK. The user profile on the eKosova platform must be at the advanced security level (double authentication factor), to ensure proper data protection and authorized access only by the account owner.

Also, to facilitate the process of withdrawing pension savings of retirees, the CBK has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Kosovo Pension Savings Trust, through which direct validation of citizens’ accounts is enabled, ensuring a more efficient process for retirees, as well as eliminating delays and challenges associated with traditional confirmations by banks. This advancement and interconnection of systems saves contributors’ time and guarantees an easier and safer experience in administering their pension savings, thus replacing current practice.

The CBK, together with international partners that assist in the digitalization processes of financial services, is also working on several other technical and operational advancements, which reduce the cost and administrative burden, as well as increase the efficiency of financial service provision and transparency. These initiatives follow recent developments in the field of access to finance, education and financial inclusion, such as launching of the Financial Services Comparison Platform (https://krahaso.bqk-kos.org/).
