The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, together with his team, received in a meeting the Head of the Hellenic Liaison Office in Prishtina, Ambassador H.E. Ms. Heleni Vakali, accompanied by Mr. Kranias.

During the meeting, the Governor briefed Ambassador Vakali on the financial sector and the CBK’s activities to achieve its goals and strategic plan.

The meeting focused on the possibilities of cooperation with the Central Bank of Greece and other authorities in the framework of inter-institutional cooperation and integration initiatives. The exchange of information and capacities in the interest of both institutions was also discussed.

Also discussed were the challenges and support opportunities for membership in the Green Card for vehicles, as well as the need to find opportunities for the listing of the Republic of Kosovo on global payment platforms, for which the support of the Greek state was also kindly requested.

During the meeting, the Governor informed the Ambassador about the preparations and work of the Central Bank of Kosovo on the legal and infrastructural framework of the project for the integration of the Western Balkans into the SEPA payment system and the TIPS of the European Union.

The representatives of the Hellenic Liaison Office in Prishtina expressed their willingness to discuss with their authorities the possibility of assisting the CBK in the realization of the objectives and plans of the highest financial institution in the country, as well as concrete initiatives that contribute to the free movement of persons, vehicles and capital.

In conclusion, Governor Ismaili expressed his gratitude for the efforts and initiatives of Greece through its Ambassador to support the economy in general.
