According to the calendar of publications, the CBK published the statistics for other financial institutions for January 2024, as well as statistics of remittances for December 2023 and the preliminary ones for January 2024

Other financial intermediaries

The assets of other financial intermediaries at the end of January 2024 have decreased by EUR 1.7 million compared to the previous month, reaching the value of EUR 511.9 million.

The structure of assets of the microfinance sector is dominated by loans, which constitute 71.1% of total assets. Gross loans of other financial intermediaries in January 2024 reached the value of EUR 363.7 million, representing an increase of EUR 2.1 million compared to the previous period. By sectors, loans to households dominate with 61% of the total loans of the microfinance sector.

The value of new loans issued by other financial intermediaries in January 2024 was EUR 34.2 million.

Insurance companies

The assets of insurance companies at the end of January 2024 reached the value of EUR 312.2 million, representing an increase of EUR 6.8 million compared to the previous month.

The structure of assets in the insurance sector consists of the balance with commercial banks, which constitute securities at 45.4%, other assets at 28.7% and reinsurance with participation at 14.7%.

Pension funds

The assets of pension funds at the end of January 2024 have increased by EUR 41 million compared to the previous month, reaching the value of about EUR 2.75 billion.

The asset structure of the pension sector is dominated by equity securities, which constitute 74.5% of total assets.

Remittances

According to preliminary estimates, remittances for January 2024 were around EUR 84.6 million. The largest inflows during this month were 63.3% through NBFIs, 19.4% through banks, and 17.3% through other channels.

By the end of December 2023, remittances reached the value of about EUR 1,343.4 million, representing an annual increase of 10%.
