The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, together with the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Nesrin Shileku-Shala, met with the head of the expert team of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s Monetary and Capital Markets (MCM) Technical Assistance Mission in the field of Risk Management, Mr. Gabriel Andrade.

Mr. Andrade is the Director and Head of the Risk Management Department at the Central Bank of Portugal (Banco de Portugal), Chair of the Eurosystem Resilience Working Group at the European Central Bank (ECB), and Coordinator of the Risk Committee at the Banco de Portugal (Risk Manager of the year award 2022, by the Central Banking Institute).

The Mission led by Mr. Gabriel Andrade aims to assist the Central Bank of Republic of Kosovo in capacity building, enhancing internal structures, and strengthening the integrated risk management function, as well as advancing the regulatory framework based on international best practices.

At the beginning of the meeting, Governor Ismaili briefed Mr. Andrade on the current developments in the country’s financial system, the CBK’s commitments to implementing the recommendations of international institutions, the ongoing advancements in the area of Risk Management, and CBK’s orientation towards strengthening management in other risks, with a focus on cybersecurity risks.

During this introductory meeting, Mr. Andrade was also informed about the completion of the Executive Board of the Central Bank of Kosovo, and the activities for completing the Organizational Structure of the CBK, approved at the end of last year.

Furthermore, during the meeting, the Governor briefed the IMF Mission expert about internal policies, including the Integrity Plan of CBK.

The IMF mission will span a duration of three days, during which it will engage with the teams and staff of CBK across all organizational levels related to risk management.
