The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr Ahmet Ismaili, met with the charge d’affaires of the Embassy of Montenegro in our country, Mr Bernard Çobaj.

At the beginning of the meeting, Governor Ismaili informed Mr. Çobaj of the current developments in the country’s financial system, macroeconomic developments, the perspective, the objectives and the Strategic Plan of the CBK.

As part of the initiative for advancing the financial system, including the project for the payment system modernization and the goal to become a member of the Single Euro Payments Area of the European Union, known as SEPA and the European Instant Payment Settlement (TIPS).

The current challenges but also the progress made towards digitization and the potential cooperation in this field with Montenegrin institutions, as well as the expansion of cooperation with the Central Bank of Montenegro, were part of the discussion during this meeting.

The discussion covered also the issue of the advancement of regulatory and legal framework, including the Law on Banks, the Law on Payment Services and other laws, with the aim of aligning the same with the EU directives.

The meeting concluded that there will be further exchanges of information aimed at possible cooperation between the CBK and Montenegrin institutions in areas of common interest.
