A high-level delegation from the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), led by Governor Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, Deputy Governor Mr. Fusha, Coordinator for International Cooperation Ms. Abazi, and Chief of Cabinet Mr. Zyfliu, met in Washington D.C. for constructive discussions with the team of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, led by Matthew Nemeth, Vice President and Director of Customer Account Services, and Mr. Phatak, Head of International Policy and Strategy. The meeting aimed to appreciate and strengthen cooperation between the two institutions.

In the meeting held with the team of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the CBK delegation emphasized the fruitful cooperation between the CBK and the Federal Reserve, which has extended from capacity-building programs to direct support since the CBK’s foundation.

Notably, it underscored the CBK’s responsibility in managing all USD reserves with the Federal Reserve and highlighted the importance of the correspondent banking relationship between the two institutions.

Governor Ismaili reiterated the CBK’s commitment to maintaining robust ties with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, recognizing its pivotal role in facilitating international reserve management and strategic partnerships, including best practices to combat money laundering and terrorist financing

These engagements underscored the CBK’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships with key international stakeholders, furthering the institution’s mission of promoting financial stability and enhancing economic development in Kosovo, as we appreciate the strategic partnership between the two nations and institutions.

This bilateral meeting follows the CBK delegation’s meetings in Washington DC during the 2024 Spring Meetings with the International Monetary Fund, World Bank Group, and other United States of America financial institutions.
