(Prishtina, 18 July 2024) – Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Dardan Fusha, and his team today hosted a courtesy and productive meeting with World Bank officials, led by the newly appointed Finance Competitiveness and Innovation Practice Manager, Ms. Martha Martinez Licetti, to explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation and support.

In addition to the ongoing support provided through several projects, the discussions focused on assessing potential areas for World Bank engagement in the private and financial sectors, with a particular emphasis on strengthening cooperation with the CBK. Deputy Governor Fusha expressed sincere appreciation for the World Bank’s continued support, highlighting its significant contributions and assistance in Kosovo’s regulatory alignment with Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), addressing climate-related risks in the financial sector through green strategies, as well as providing technical assistance in insurance supervision, IT functions, resolution, and other critical areas.

The meeting also explored new opportunities for the World Bank to provide tailored support to further strengthen the CBK’s initiatives and support the financial sector. Topics included strengthening the regulatory frameworks for access to finance, consumer protection and innovative payment solutions.

Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together to strengthen financial resilience and promote financial inclusion and economic growth in Kosovo.
