During the 2024 International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB) Annual Meetings, the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, was warmly welcomed at the U.S. Department of the Treasury by Mr. Luyen Tran, Deputy Assistant Secretary. The meeting confirmed the strong partnership between the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo and the U.S. Treasury Department.

In his remarks, Governor Ismaili expressed his profound appreciation for the U.S. Treasury’s unwavering support, particularly on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo. In addition, Governor Ismaili acknowledged the important role of the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Technical Assistance (OTA) in building a strong and resilient central bank for Kosovo, highlighting their continuous efforts in strengthening the CBK’s key functions and capabilities.

“The continuous dedication of the U.S. Department of the Treasury has been fundamental in advancing our mission and capacity,” said Governor Ismaili. “Your support has played a key role in enabling us to strengthen Kosovo’s financial system, ensuring stability, resilience, and alignment with international best practices.”

Governor Ismaili emphasized that this cooperation has been critical in several areas, including improving governance frameworks, enhancing regulatory oversight, and boosting financial sector resilience. He also reconfirmed the CBK’s commitment to maintaining a close partnership with the U.S. Treasury as it continues to pursue initiatives that will ensure economic growth and financial stability in Kosovo.

This meeting served as an opportunity to further deepen collaboration and strengthen ties between the CBK and the U.S. Treasury. The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo remains committed in its mission to foster a strong, inclusive, and resilient financial sector, with a vision aligned to international standards and best practices.
