The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, along with his colleagues, held a meeting with the Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, Ms. Antonella Bassani with associates. This meeting, according to the standard protocol, was held together with the Minister of Finance, Labour and Transfers, Mr. Hekuran Murati, within the annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank (WB) that are being held in Washington D.C.

Governor Ismaili informed Ms. Bassani regarding the main developments in the financial sector, the implementation of the CBK Strategic Plan and other reforms undertaken by the CBK. It was also discussed about the projects that are being implemented with the support of the WB group, including the modernization of the payment system as well as the digitalization of financial services.

Additionally, Governor Ismaili informed the Vice President on the progress made and the actions taken by the CBK in preparation for the process before the application for membership in the Single Euro Payments Area, known as SEPA, where the support of the WB is crucial in the successful achievement of this strategic goal with multiple positive effects for the country’s economy.

During the meeting, other aspects related to the possibility of a new project with the purpose of supporting the realization of investments in the infrastructure of fast payments, which, through the membership of SEPA, at a later stage, will enable interconnection with the EU payment system.

In the end, the CBK representatives expressed their sincere gratitude to the World Bank Group for their continuous support and strategic partnership.
