Today, the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Fehmi Mehmeti, has received in a meeting World Bank Senior Executives, led by the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, Ms. Anna Bjerde.

Governor Mehmeti briefed the World Bank team on the good performance of the financial sector in Kosovo, and in particular the banking sector and stressed the importance of this sector in supporting the country’s economic development.

Governor Mehmeti also disclosed the views of the Central Bank regarding the perspective of economic development in general and the role of the financial sector as a key contributor to the financing of economy.

Governor Mehmeti expressed his high appreciation to the World Bank for its readiness to offer us new technical assistance programs, as well as the completion of existing projects that deal with the payment system and the drafting of a national strategy for financial inclusion. At the same time, the Governor stressed the commitment of the CBK to being a reliable partner of the World Bank and continuing cooperation in all aspects.

On the other hand, the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, Ms. Anna Bjerde, stressed that the World Bank will continue to maintain a high level of cooperation with the CBK, in the implementation of projects aimed at ongoing development of Kosovo’s financial and economic sector, in general.
