According to the publication calendar, the CBK published the Balance of Payments (BP) statistics for February 2024.

The balance of payments in February 2024 was characterized by a current account deficit in the amount of 145.74 million euros, indicating a deficit increase of 53.94% or 51.07 million euros, compared to the same period last year(94.67 million euros was the deficit in February 2023).

The trade balance in goods, in February 2024, recorded a deficit in the amount of 362.40 million euros, which is 25.85% higher compared to the same period of the previous year. Export for this period recorded the value of 70.32 million euros, showing a decrease of 3.66% compared to February 2023 (72.99 million euros was in February 2023). Meanwhile, the import of goods reached the value of 432.72 million euros, showing an increase of 19.88% compared to February 2023 (360.97 million was euros in February 2023).

The services account, which constantly has a positive balance, in February 2024 marked the value of 59.82 million euros, which is 8.70% higher compared to the same period last year.

Primary income, in February 2024, recorded a positive balance of 20.64 million euros, which in the same period last year was 9.71 million euros.

Remittances are the main category within secondary income, the value of which in February 2024 was 85.58 million euros, representing an increase of 3.48 million euros or 4.23% compared to the same period of 2023.

Assets in the financial account in February 2024 have recorded a positive balance of 9.74 million euros, while financial liabilities have recorded a positive balance in the amount of 76.18 million euros.

Direct investments in Kosovo in February 2024 recorded the value of 73.91 million euros (58.69 million euros was the value in February 2023), while direct investments outside Kosovo marked the value of 13.28 million euros (11.46 million euros was the value in February 2023).

Reserve assets in February 2024 have recorded a negative balance of 9.38 million euros, which results from the reduction of investments in securities and the increase of investments in deposits. In the same period of the previous year, reserve assets had a positive balance of 21.78 million euros.
