The Delegation of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), headed by the Governor, Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, together with the Deputy Governor, Mr. Cakaj, has held a meeting with the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Italy (Banca d’Italia), Ms. Chiara Scotti, who, at the same time, is in charge of the Payments System, with collaborators, with the participation of the governors and representatives of the central banks of our region.

The meeting focused on examining the possibilities for the advancement of the technical infrastructure necessary for the operationalization of participation in the EU fast payment system, based on the best practices applied as well as experiences from the Bank of Italy, which are applied from the central banks of the Eurosystem.

Furthermore, during his discussion, he informed the attendees about the progress made and the actions taken by the CBK regarding the necessary preparations for the process before the application for membership in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), where all central banks in the region aspire to become members, as part of a joint effort supported by the European Union and assisted by the World Bank.

This meeting follows the meeting held with the Governor of the Bank of Italy, Mr. Panetta, with a wider participation, where Governor Ismaili emphasized the readiness of CBK to be actively engaged in finding the most efficient solutions that enable the achievement of the goal of integration in EU payment systems, with high benefits for the entire economy of the country.
