The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Fehmi Mehmeti, has received in a meeting senior managers of the International Monetary Fund, led by the Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Mr. Bo Li.
Governor Mehmeti informed the Deputy Director of the IMF Mr. Li and the representatives of the IMF, for the good performance of the financial sector in Kosovo, and in particular the banking sector, emphasizing the importance of this sector in supporting the country’s economic development.

Governor Mehmeti also revealed the views of the Central Bank regarding macroeconomic developments in the country, as well as the role of the financial sector as a key contributor to the financing of the economy.

Governor Mehmeti thanked Mr. Li and expressed the highest appreciation to the International Monetary Fund for the continuous support to the Republic of Kosovo in general and the CBK in particular, through the provision of technical assistance and capacity building of the CBK, with the aim of further development of the institution. At the same time, the Governor expressed the commitment of the CBK to be a reliable partner of the International Monetary Fund and the continuation of cooperation in all aspects.

Deputy Managing Director Bo Li congratulated Governor Mehmeti for maintaining financial stability in this unfavorable economic time and emphasized the importance of using supervisory tools to strengthen the financial sector.

Also, Deputy Director Li reaffirmed the commitment of the International Monetary Fund for further support and requested that the independence of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo be maintained and preserved.
