In marking the Global Money Week, the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Fehmi Mehmeti, delivered a lecture to the students of economics at AAB College.

Governor Mehmeti said that despite the challenging situation caused by the pandemic, the banking sector has managed to perform well and help the citizens and the economy.

In the discussion with the students, Governor Mehmeti referred to the measures taken by the CBK since the outbreak of the pandemic in Kosovo. The measures concerned have been embraced by the most credible international institutions as well.

He also mentioned the cooperation they had with all institutions aimed at overcoming this situation more easily, although according to him, the economy has suffered from the effects of the pandemics.

He reiterated the need to increase support for the affected sectors due to measures taken to contain the virus, while saying that the CBK remains committed to helping the economic recovery.

The Governor also mentioned the opportunity created for businesses through the Kosovo Credit Guarantee Fund.

Likewise, he pointed out numerous activities that the CBK undertakes in the field of financial education, informing them about the opportunities offered to them both with information and internship at the CBK.

On the other hand, students asked various questions about the functioning of the financial system and recent economic developments in the country, and the leaders of the Faculty of Economics thanked Governor Mehmeti for sharing information, expressing their interest for such lectures in the future too.
