Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Fehmi Mehmeti, met with representatives of the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) from Germany, who are staying for a visit in Kosovo. Governor Mr. Mehmeti informed the officials of this institution about the financial system situation and thanked representatives of KfW for the continuous support they gave and are giving for the development of the financial system, namely the support of the Kosovo Credit Guarantee Fund (KCGF).

On this occasion, Governor Mr. Mehmeti stated that financial sector had positive developments, where the financial system assets have marked an annual growth of 6.9%, and bank credit marked an annual growth of about 11%, while interest rates on loans dropped to 6.3 %, and the non-performing loans rate dropped to 2.7%.

Also, Governor Mr. Mehmeti informed representatives of KfW regarding the positive developments in other sectors, such as the insurance, pension and microfinance institutions and non-bank financial institutions.

Furthermore, Governor Mr. Mehmeti informed representatives of KfW regarding the on-going activities of CBK in further advancing the regulatory framework of the financial system, according to the best international standards.

Representatives of KfW, headed by Dr. Markus Aschendorf and Mr. Thomas Reker thanked the Governor Mr. Fehmi Mehmeti for on-going co-operation as well as informed him about KfW’s projects in further support of KCGF and other projects as well as discussed ways to grow further cooperation between KfW and CBK.
