In the framework of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund spring meetings that are being held in Washington, the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Fehmi Mehmeti, met with the IMF’s Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Tao Zhang, with whom he discussed the recent macroeconomic developments in Kosovo, with particular emphasis on financial sector sustainability and advanced developments in this sector. Governor Mehmeti expressed his gratitude to the International Monetary Fund for its continued support to Kosovo, in this case, to the CBK, while IMF’s Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Tao Zhang has promised further support to the CBK in the future.

Governor Mehmeti also met with Director of the European Department at the IMF, Mr. Poul Thomsen, with whom he discussed recent macroeconomic developments, the financial system developments as well as strategic and development challenges and objectives, including Kosovo’s cooperation with the IMF. Whereas the main topic of discussion between Governor Mehmeti and Paul Mathieu, from the Monetary and Capital Markets Department at the IMF, was the Technical Assistance given to the CBK, the implementation of the Financial System Stability Review-FSSR expected to begin this month. Governor Mehmeti also held a meeting with the IMF Mission in Kosovo and our Constituency Director at IMF, Raci Kaya.
