The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, along with Deputy Governors Mr. Milot Cakaj and Mr. Dardan Fusha, welcomed the new Mission Chief of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for Kosovo, Mr. David Amaglobeli, and his team members, Mr. Sebastian Sosa and Mr. Selim Thaçi.
Governor Ismaili congratulated Mr. Amaglobeli on his new position and expressed appreciation for the cooperation between the CBK and the IMF. During this meeting, he informed Mr. Amaglobeli about developments in the financial sector and economy, the implementation of the Strategic Plan, the functionalization of the new organizational structure, and other reforms at the CBK aimed at capacity building.
Additionally, Governor Ismaili informed Mr. Amaglobeli about the fulfillment of recommendations arising from the two IMF programs: the Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) and the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), as well as the recommendations from technical assistance.
During the meeting, the IMF Mission Chief was informed about the CBK's commitment to legislative reforms, digitalization, efforts for SEPA membership, advancement of consumer protection, and the green agenda.
Mr. Amaglobeli thanked Governor Ismaili for the cooperation between the IMF and the CBK and informed him about the IMF's plans and expectations within the framework of economic and financial policies and agreements with the IMF.
Furthermore, Mr. Amaglobeli assured Governor Ismaili of the IMF's support for the CBK's undertaken reforms and other initiatives aimed at advancing the financial system in the country.
Both parties committed to continuing and further advancing their cooperation to achieve additional results in support of the financial system's sustainability and sustainable economic growth.
Mr. Amaglobeli has worked in several countries and different IMF missions, along with holding the positions of Governor and Deputy Governor at the National Bank of Georgia, where he led significant institutional reforms.
